about

My friend, Terry Ransom, shared this song of his a few weeks ago. He sent along a recording of the song in a old-timey fiddle/banjo arrangement that was uptempo.

I slowed the song down and went for a lilting beat. I sent Terry a recording that featured two acoustic guitars. He liked it but suggested I add a ukulele and steel guitar for a Hawaiian feel. So, here it is.

lyrics

Dance by the Light of the Moon

She said
Oh Darlin’ can you bring me the stars
Oh, darlin’ are you comin’ home soon
Oh Darlin’ can we step out tonight
Hold each other tight
And dance by the light of the moon
Can we dance by the light of the moon

He said
Oh Darlin’ you can shine like the stars
Oh Darlin’ will you sing me a tune
Oh Darlin’ can we step out tonight
Hold each other tight
And dance by the light of the moon
Can we dance by the light of the moon

Chorus
We’ll walk together hand in hand
Whisper things no one should know
We’ll close our eyes and wish upon a star
That every lover’s night we will go
And dance by the light of the moon
We’ll dance by the light of the moon

Can’t you see the stars in my eyes
Can’t you wish me home with this tune
Stay with me we’ll step out tonight
Hold each other tight
And dance by the light of the moon
We’ll dance by the light of the moon
Chorus
